When Calvin says something is gross... ugh... I don't even want to think about it.

The worst being that the teacher won't probably even appreciate the hard work Calvin is putting in to come up with a solution, or even just with a semblance of a solution, to a really urgent and pressing issue.

As a teacher, I would think it's my duty to encourage that audacious and creative mindset by giving Calvin an A+ for showing so much commitment to make do with whatever is available. Who needs fancy boxes and pins? Or even insects! ;)

I think Calvin needs to learn that some problems can't be solved with smarts and hard work alone, they also take time.
