Any good resources for expats out there?

I plan on moving from Germany to Australia in September.

So far I've been doing ok with the planning but I was wondering if there were any specific groups or forums for people like me/expats in Australia with tips and connections that could be useful to me. I already looked at a bunch of forums and it seems that at least the German language ones are largely inactive.

Immigrants. Migrants move from a to b. You move from one village to the next: you're a migrant.

Migrants is more general term, yeah. There is no such thing as "expat" they are migrants (immigrants or emigrants depends on the point of view).

Are you just there for a short gig? Or for something long-term? I thought Australia is not particularly easy to move to, but I assume you have already sorted it out... In any case, I still haven't found good expat/new immigrant resources myself either

I browse some subreddits related to the place I'm moving to/have moved to, and some general places like r/expats and r/iwantout. There's also expat.com which has some nice guides... Although I assume you already know these. I would guess there might be some pretty active ones if you include English-speaking forums and general EU->Australia forums

I don't know what social media is popular in Australia right now, but getting on the social media the local folks use might be helpful

I will permanently relocate. Never heard of expat.com, but I'll definitely check it out.

Facebook is still pretty popular in Australia, as far as I know. Every group related to expats/immigrants in Australia I've seen has been inactive for some time, though.

You reached the end
