When I was a kid, if you listened to Joy Division or The Cure, that was goth. All black, lots of hairspray, gaudy silver jewelry, Friday night showings of Faces of Death on VHS (!), a midnight stroll through the town cemetery … goth.

By my time and geography it'd become Manson, Rob Zombie, and Sepultura, similar palette but a very different subculture from several years before. I did and do like it all, but then, I was not goth, just goth-adjacent via friends, hehe.
