Hartley Elliot Sanchez, 35, is now facing a felony prisoner escape charge after police said he wandered away from his duties for a secret dalliance, according to an arrest report from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office obtained by The Smoking Gun.

I don't see how this is felony prisoner escape. Would he have been charged with that just for going to the bathroom? If not, there's no reason to charge him with it in this instance. They're just mad that people know how shitty they are at watching prisoners.
Being used as slave labor is gross enough. To be used at an event put on by the sheriff is just another level.

It's news because Florida immediately publishes all charges and mugshots and people latch onto that. Florida doesn't have an excessive amount of crazies, they just air their dirty laundry and people latch onto it. You're seeing it because people are voting and commenting on the absurdity
