But yeah I think it will go on until one of the main cast dies. We've replaced a handful over the years already, and I'm confident they could find someone to replace them, but I expect that will be what finally brings the show to an end.
Sorry bit of a tirade, lifelong fan:
I was thinking about this recently. It will be really interesting to see how long it keeps going. It's covered all their insane hypotheticals from the early years, now they're into ongoing casual social commentary as inspiration. I imagine they could keep that going for a long while yet, like a late night show but with the flexibility of being animated.
Quality of storytelling and humour has also gone through a dead cycle, where it just hit mediocrity for years, but seems to be recovering/ed. To me, that was the time would have gotten most shows cut, but it's such a cultural juggernaut that I guess it got a pass?
I dunno. I can't imagine life without the show having new episodes cuz it's been ubiquitous for decades. It's super adaptable and maintains a pretty family friendly appeal. It may not always be great, but I think a lot of ppl feel like me and just.. like tuning in to see what's new?
We're going to keep on rocking forever!

I think most of us would have loved to stay 10 years old for as long as Bart has.
