Fair point, but I feel like trust in the US's military defences being intended to actually just defend the US should have been lost by Vietnam, if not by the cold war.
Now that basically the only nuclear powers are Russia, the US, and China, we are all under nothing but trust in the intentions of their governments.

The US is economically dependant Chinese manufacturing (like every western nation). China is quite happy with the situation.
The PoTUS and GOP are already effectively commanded by Putin. He's reasonably pleased with how it's all going.
Y'all need someone like, say, the Dutch to provide some democracy.
