That's from the tail end of Carole Cadwalladr's recent TED talk called This is What A Digital Coup Looks Like.
I love Carole Cadwalladr but don't let perfect be the enemy of good.
1. Most of The Guardian funding comes from readers. I give money every year. But readers only aren't enough to sustain it. They also need to look for other revenue sources.
2. There is no evidence that she was fired specifically because Open AI requested it. That would be a major scandal and the entire newsroom would revolt.
3. The Guardian remains an excellent newspaper. They won more journalism awards than any other UK paper.
