Do you isolate your porn browsing from your regular browsing?

NSFW

And if so, what's your method? Separate OS account, private browsing, dedicated porn VM, other?

I always preferred completely separating my porn habits from my "main" life. Not only because I don't want any parents/girlfriend/wife/children/other accidentally stumbling on my history if anything happens to me, but also for basic security reasons.

For a long time, I used a dedicated, encrypted VM to isolate this browsing but it's honestly impractical and a battery drain. These days I'm starting to experiment with a LUKS encrypted file that contains everything. Much more efficient but much less isolated.

What do you use?

Awhile back I'd only look at adult content on incognito mode. Up until recently I was using different browsers to keep them separate. These days it's just all on the same browser, no incognito mode or anything. If someone wants to get through all my security to find out what I'm into, more power to them.

Honestly it's their fault for snooping. They'll wish they never set eyes on my phone.

I browse in incognito mode. For me, it's not about hiding it from somebody who's looking through my stuff.. it's more about stuff like, when I notice the babysitter is doing her homework on her phone, I can offer up my laptop without worrying that she's going to type C into Google, and the auto complete will jump straight to "clown bondage anal dom scat"

Most important for me is to isolate work. Company machine, company network, company VPN. Never log in to any personal account on that, more professional account on a personal device. I'm two completely separate people to every extent possible that way.

Personal vs porn is still separated, but not a huge deal. I'm an adult. Not just married, but in a polycule with other adults. They have friends who are adult content creators, and we believe in supporting the businesses of our friends.

I use separate Lemmy and Piefed accounts for a variety of reasons, but it's not to hide my consumption from anyone in my personal life. It's partially just so that I stay organized. It's nice to have other designers accounts where NSFW stuff is blocked so I can feel comfortable browsing and killing time in public. It's also because I don't want to be getting into an argument about politics or sports or videogames and having the person I'm arguing with dredging up my porn history. I saw other users have that happen years ago when I used Reddit and while it was funny to see, I'd rather avoid it.

Also a VPN is just a way of life. Pi-hole knocks out a ton of ads trackers too.

For FediNSFW (and previously LemmyNSFW) I use a separate account but my normal browser instance. For longer sessions of watching various porn I use the incognito mode and have a preconfigured search as a starting point so the Google algorithm does not get weird.

I have a normal install of Firefox for normal use and a portable instance of LibreWolf for NSFW stuff.

I use separate browsers for work, personal use and VERY personal use. For NSFW activities I use librewolf. I do this only to separate my usual activity from the family eyes, specially the wife and kids

Separate OS account and a separate browser. I don't need porn ads seeping into my work life.

On mobile, it's just a separate app.

I separate my porn from normal life too!
I always use private browsing for NSFW stuff, and ofcousre without VPN. Then, everything I download, goes in to a hard drive where I hide the files(a windows feature that hides files and can be only seen if you enable the option). On my phone I do the same, browser private, hide pictures.
I do all these so everyone can access the computer or phone, but not see porn stuff I watch. Same goes for browser history.
