This might be a complete misunderstanding of how the fediverse works so apologies in advance. I used to use Sync for Lemmy, when I try to connect my new fedinsfw.app account to it I get Invalid Login, but I can log into my account here. Should I be using a different app now?
Sync doesn't support piefed.
It's essentially been abandoned by the developer, so while it still works for lemmy there's no telling when a lemmy update will move past what sync is set up to do there and sync will become useless.
Boost for lemmy works with piefed, and has very similar options to sync. Interstellar is a solid option as well. Haven't tried anything else though, so that's all I can say works for sure.
Voyager works great, you just can't register on a pieced instances. Logging in works perfectly fine though.
Haven't tried Sync since it was a reddit app, but Boost and Interstellar both seem to work well.
We're on Boost, do you also have an issue with redgifs not playing anymore in feed ?
Sometimes, but it usually works okay for me.
Damn, since making the switch, none or almost none work, must have missed a setting somewhere
I think redgifs is blocking some red states similar to what pornhub has done in the past.
We're on the other side of an ocean, so red states are not our explanation haha
I had similar issue with the Connect app and the dev updated it to work with Fedi.
Oh, did Connect update for you? I don't see an update and can't login with Connect still.
It did update and I just had another app update today to v1.0.416. I'm on beta channel so you might have to join Beta or wait a little longer.
The issue I'm having now is the setting, profile, NSFW, defaults to Blur and if I change to show it doesn't stay. Hopefully @Kuro can fix the profile settings bug for Fedi as well soon.
I'm using Blorp from the f-droid store. Seems pretty great so far
Blorp dev here. If NSFW content viewing feels a little janky, it’s something I’m actively working on improving (specifically PieFed + blur nsfw setting). Stay tuned.
I have been using Connect for Lemmy for a long time. I was using LemmyNSFW before, and this is my first dip into PieFed.
Luckily Connect was already ahead of the game in PieFed support, and the Dev is considering changing the name at some point to reflect that. It seems like there was some sort of specific configuration thing with FediNSFW.app in particular that required an update- I had to join the Beta channel to get it to work. But now it works, and I can flip back-and-forth between my main Lemmy account and NSFW account easily in the same app.
Before I could get Connect to work I also used Interstellar. It seemed pretty good too, though I didn't use it much and didn't connect to Lemmy with it, just PieFed.
Connect is so good. The dev is super responsive to any issues and it's just so well polished with so much customization and no ads and trackers. Can't believe that people are still using Sync.
Some apps have added support for Piefed. I'm currently a fan of Thunder.
Given that this question relates to the PieFed software, I think [email protected] might be a more helpful place to ask :)
Yeah that's the context I didn't understand, whether because it was running under different software I would be able to log in there. I can see some fedinsfw.app instances from that login, hence my confusion.
