Parts of the US have gone far off the rails, and so far neither player in the de facto two party system has made any significant strides to fix the underlying issues.

It's going to be a hard battle (I'm not from the US so my assessment might be wrong) but I wish all democratic grassroots movements the best
One side fights disengenuously using language as a weapon while not believing in language, while the other side is too busy worrying about language to act appropriately. It's a cause/effect bridge that can no longer bear the weight. You need to burn it to the ground and build a new system in its place, because you are on a sinking ship no matter who is at the helm these days.
Gonna go as far as say Trump is only pushing (over the edge) what the Democrats also have largely condoned in the past.
Yes, there's no comparison in scale, but afaik Democrats also like their insider trades, lobbyism, the odd scandal, etc. pp.
