What a beautiful ending. Sweetfoot gets a happy ending and all the apples in the world! The start of the Green Apple Fossaways is happening, even if it is a bit peculiar.
And of course our heroes out on the open road with full family blessings. (Right?)
Also confirmed Dunk isn't knighted. Not a surprise, but I loved the way they handled it. Dunk questioning why he was spared, absolutely destroyed emotionally, and he's forced to wonder if Ser Arlan really didn't believe in him. But he sees a young kid, just like him, that needs some guidance, and even he knows he's a true knight at heart.
So they're planting the seeds for the War of the Usurper as far back as Lyonel ?
"He's a terrible Maester", "An itchy arsehole is beyond his abilities" , "Begone, Witch!" 🤣🤣🤣
Also, I ROFL at "The Fucking Apple Boy!"
Speaking of the Apple Boy... hey Apple Boy, you're going to be raising a Dondarrion Bastard...
Damn it, Valarr's heartbroken delivery 😭
It came off waaaay sadder and less antagonistic than the novella.
Sam Spruell’s (Maekar) delivery is incredible.
Maekar is broken and wants to hate Dunk, but hates himself so much that it doesn’t even matter.
I loved Maekar and Egg's little scene - no words spoken, just superb acting.
I'm waiting for S02 to make a final decision on Maekar's change from the Novellas...

🤣🤣🤣 DUDE, was that a jab at GRRM ?!?!?

::: spoiler Rowan...
I totally misread the subtitles in HBO MAX of "Rowan Fossoway" as "Rohan Fossoway"... and had me thinking they were introducing Lady Webber reaaaally early.

::: spoiler Next Season
My prediction: The Sworn Sword is smaller than The Hedge Knight, so they're going to spend the first 2 episodes with Maekar/Daeron catching up to Dunk/Egg visiting a recently "Maester-ed" Aemon in Oldtown, Maekar gets to see Dunk in action and ends up giving his signet ring as approval. Then we have the next 4 episodes to deal with Osgrey/Webber.

Without spoiling anything I've always found the second story to be the weakest, especially coming after the perfect story that is The Hedge Knight. With that story starting off with a recap of events we don't see, I wonder if season 2 will fill in some gaps and include an extra scene where Maekar admits he was wrong and gives his blessings, especially after they travel for a bit.
Perhaps a chance meeting while Maekar is checking in on his other son.
A fairly predictable type of season finale but definitely an enjoyable new series that scratched that itch of wanting to see some stories from Westeros while waiting for the new season of House of the Dragon. I have to say a lot of the episodes were fairly uneventful but that's not so much down to there being any problem with the storytelling. Not for me anyway, I can enjoy a slower pacing. More an issue with the time-limited way of releasing them.

That's exactly my theory.
