I've read it and saw that apparently while she doesn't do that to the fox itself, she's qualified in working with wild animals and knows what to do if bitten, and also sanitizes everything after those, eh, visits.

No word of vaccination, though.

Rabies in animals in the UK

In the UK, rabies has been eliminated from terrestrial animal populations. The last rabid terrestrial animal in the UK was a puppy in quarantine which had been imported from Sri Lanka and found to be rabid in 2008.

Rabies affects bats as well as terrestrial animals, and rabies-like viruses have been found in bats in the UK. These viruses are known as European Bat Lyssaviruses (EBLVs), types 1 and 2. They very rarely cross the species barrier from bats to humans and are different from the ‘classical’ rabies virus found in dogs and other animals. These viruses do however cause clinical rabies in humans.

The presence of EBLV does not alter the status of the UK as rabies-free.

I really detest these stories where people are like “oh how cute” without realizing how messed up it is. Its extremely likely that someone has been feeding that fox, even if this woman isnt the one doing it. Most likely she probably is feeding it

Foxes do not naturally behave this way. They should show an instinctive fear of people, not cuddle up with them. Foxes arent a domestic animal.

When people feed wild animals they do shit like this, and then 99% of the time its only a short while before they display aggressive behavior towards someone that doesnt feed them and end up getting killed for it.

The best thing you can do for an animal that displays this type of behavior is scare it away and try to nudge it back towards natural behavior. The more it views people as a friendly and a potential food source the more likely it is to get killed later.

There are videos and pictures in the article of her feeding the fox. Even if you are right, being judgemental without actually reading the article is dumb.

Pretty obvious the real problem is viral social media. This person would have found a different way to self harm for social gratification if this fox didn't show up.
