I'll keep a closer eye on moderation. We'll keep instant signups though. Manually approving accounts leads to people being deterred from posting because we live in a world where people have been conditioned for instant gratification.
your instance currently hosts a bunch of new impersonation/troll accounts, which have been reported countless times already. keeping registrations entirely open without any sanity checks and no active moderation will lead to defederation, as at least one instance has already done.
you're part of a federated network, any spam problem on your instance affects all other instances that this content federates to. if you don't deal with it at the source it will lead to the source no longer being federated at some point.
i don't know if you have any say in administration of this instance, as you're using only a moderator account, not an admin account, but there are at least 6 different accounts less than 12h old on your instance spamming nsfw media, impersonating and harassing other users.
Would you be so kind as to send me any account you've identified as trolls/impersonators other than the fake Ada and Demonic Neo accounts? Just want to make sure, I'm going through each report one by one right now.
I'm only aware of the 3 Ada and 3 Neo accounts that you already banned.

Seeing as 529 mod alerts have come up in a very short time period, I think the reasonable option is to go back to manual approval.
