From the OOP: “My family moved to a property, previous owners said there are "some" barn cats They are up to 21 orange cats (not all pictured here). My family is taking great care of them all, and will soon get the cats fixed. The babies all have future homes now!”

If they are all orange, doesn't that mean they are all males? And the females are still out there waiting and watching and ready to repopulate?

Nah, just means the females are all homozygous for orange, and all the males are orange. The gene for orange is on the X chromosome, and since XY males only get one X chromosome, they're either "orange" or "not orange". XX females (and XXY males) can get one copy of "orange" and one copy of "not orange", and that's how you you get torties/calicos, and why torties/calicos are almost always female.
