Small clarification; they didn't "remove protections against ice deporting US citizens". That was already illegal. They removed verbiage that reinforced that law.

Now, that's not saying that ice hasn't deported US citizens in the past, nor that they're going to try to do it more in the future, just that they are never technically allowed to do it in the first place.

All that to say, fuck Republicans, fuck ICE, and fuck anyone that supports them!

Oh yes, I changed the title to reflect the truth now

But it is alarming why they would do that in the first place. Why would they be against prohibiting the deportation of U.S. citizens in the new bill?

It seems like the government is just following the Third Reich's book on how to slowly but surely get rid of a part of the population

Here is a comment from that post on Reddit:

Just a reminder: before the"Final Solution" Hitler wanted to deport the Jews elsewhere. They would be German citizens, born in Germany, and ancestors all German, and they would still be deported. Then comes the idea, "why deport them when you can just execute them?"

Why would you even be against prohibiting deportation of U.S. citizens?

Devils advocate:
Since it was already illegal to deport citizens, that text is useless and unnecessary in a new bill.
It might be put in there just for the other party to take it out, creating headlines like this one.

No, what is happening is a preventative measure intended to prevent legal grey areas from being exploited under the guise of its not clear or let's see how the courts interpret this.

Putting clear language makes it harder for them to do it and pretend it was an accident or that technically they can do it because of an interpretation of the law.

Yup, so they were against putting a safeguard that would clarify that ICE cannot deport US citizens

This means Donald Trump does not want to protect US Citizens

No shit.

Seriously, I'm glad this Rep wrote the amendment. I'm glad she got it snuggled in the original bill. I'm sorry to see the GOP stripped it out again. I totally agree this proves Trump Bad.

But holy shit, have you been watching the news? We had two gangland style civilian murders in as many weeks. We are way past updating the particulars of deportation protocol. Any vote that gives this organization any amount of money for any reason is tacit endorsement of a fascist paramilitary.
