Japan airline serves vegan [business class] passenger a banana and chopsticks for in-flight meal

There were two meal services during the flight – the first was a snack and light refreshment served after take-off and the second was lunch, Japan Airlines said in a statement. The snack option for non-vegan passengers consisted of seared tuna with a Moroccan-style aubergine salad, cheese with orange salsa, and a baguette, per the airline’s menu and Chari’s experience.

According to CNA:

Lunch was "barely seasoned" spaghetti, according to the passenger.

ANA won't even let me select a vegan option because it "isn't available from your departure airport". I've gotta pack my own banana apparently.

A company I worked at had 2 vegetarians and 3 Vegans. At our company party, which was a black tie affair, we watched as everyone else had the option of a nice cut of steak or salmon complete with petit potatoes and asparagus. The vegan and vegetariam option was half a block of cold tofu, sliced into 4 pieces with soy sauce drizzled on it and a piece of broccoli. Im sure half of everyone else plate was vegetarian but that wasn't my battle to fight.

Looking back now I realize we were a lone edamame bean away from the saddest Soy three ways dish.

Ugh, look they've even broken off the top part of the banana so you can't even peel it open without a faff.

I've learned to always bring backup food/snacks in case of stupid scenarios like this happening.

Before I leave the house, I always pat pockets for keys, wallet, phone, and half-liter resealable bag of spaghetti marinara.
