Jerome Powell is the chair of the US Federal Reserve, the guys who set interest rates, print money, and run the government bank. Like all government agencies, Trump is trying to take dictatorial control of it in a way no president has. However, Jeromey was a fairly slimy pick for the role in the first place (even if he hasn't done anything out of the ordinary), so the people acting like he's some great hero are kinda cringe. The bigger issue is Trump making every institution more dysfunctional in his effort to consolidate power, not that Powell is amazing.
