It's a start! We pay north of $40k/year/kid for daycare/preschool. And only $5k in 2025 ($7500 2026) is pretax, regardless of how many kids.

Related, I think we really need to adopt a universal solution to benefits cliffs. Smooth/continuous functions aren't rocket science...

People used to be "house poor". Now there's a group of "childcare poor", where you just earn money to pay for childcare so you can have a job to earn money. It's terrible.

230k in San Francisco is about 130k where I live. San Francisco is crazy expensive, but that's like a comfortable middle class salary.
