82 years old. Elderly people have a lot to offer with their experience and institutional knowledge but they should be passing that on to young people in those positions. They shouldn’t be fossilizing in those seats of power.

When you serve 18 terms (EIGHTEEN - think about that), you become so entrenched in the system that you can’t (or won’t) do shit. She calls herself a progressive, and is not the worst of those who call themselves progressive without always acting like it, but she has some wild and out of touch views, this being one of them.

She is one of the examples for why we need reasonable term limits for every single elected office. No one should be allowed to be in Congress for 18 terms.

She’s been a rep for 18 terms, since 1991, so 35 years. Expertise is one thing, but when you’re in a safe seat for that long, often running unopposed, there’s very little incentive to work against the status quo.
