The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has finalized an order with General Motors (GM) and its subsidiary, OnStar, settling charges that they collected and sold the location and driving data of millions of drivers without consent.

"For five years". So they can after that? What the fuck?
No, the five year mark moves with you. They can get five year old data, but not current data.
It's a step in the right direction at least, and the explicit requirement to notify/ask users for consent is good for the sake of awareness. GM's OnStar has been an insane source of data either way.
