The devs are expecting over 1 million players on launch, which is absolutely massive for an early access title released outside of Steam. You can download the launcher now by going to https://hytale.com/download to be prepared!

I hope it works out for them. Personally, because I want a Minecraft that shifts the focus toward RPG adventure. But also just so the devs get to have something for all the work.
Well it's just Early Access right now so things should get better once the full game is available.
They can always change how payment works if they really wanted too.
