100%. This is one of those things you can just feel. And not just in the stupid slow animations. It's in other forms of slowness, like putting volume and sound device controls behind extra clicks, spacing out listed items to make room for fingers but ruining the usability for people using the cursor, only showing search results like 5% of the time in the Start bar and when those do show, picking the least fucking correct thing every time when all you want is Documents or Printers or whatever. Holy shit, I'm getting angry just thinking about it.

I've got it on my desktop PC in case it ever is required of me, and of course I often have to use it at work, but otherwise, I have ejected that shitty OS and that horrible company from my life. The same desktop is almost always running Linux, and my laptops run Linux and macOS, respectively. For as horrible as macOS has become in the past decade, it's still miles more usable than Windows 11.

The choices that company has made not only with Windows, but with their greasy, greasy pivot to cloud services as their main product and AI as a force-fed outgrowth of that business model have me handily convinced I will never buy another OS or piece of software from Microsoft. They're persona non grata for me, and increasingly, I'm hearing it from other people in my life, even people who never have strong opinions about stuff like this. And, good. They deserve it. Icarus on wax wings. Fuck 'em. They get what they deserve if they manage to spurn multiple generations of computer users at the same time.

And while I'm on the point, I've been converting old folks' computers to Linux left and right. They come to me worried that their machines don't support Windows 11 and that they need to spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade to some 8GB of RAM-having, AI-laden shitbox running a very complex piece of adware when all they want to do is pay bills, send emails, watch YouTube and check Facebook, and I say, "have I got the thing for you! It's called Linux Mint." In five years I'll have half this county converted :p
