How to draft the collector booster?

I've been trying to get my brother and brother-in-law into draft so I preordered draft night and am hoping it'll motivate them to give it a try (my wife will also play).

My plan is to have a gimmicky but fun prize for each place (they like alcohol):

  • First place: A shooter of a fancy scotch
  • Second: A shooter of bourbon
  • Third: A shooter of spiced rum maybe?
  • Fourth: A shooter of fireball

So the collector booster doesn't really need to be a prize, I could keep it for myself since they won't really understand its value anyway. But I like playing with what I buy so I was wondering if it could be added to the draft in a fair way?

I was thinking maybe lay that pack out face up after drafting and take turns picking a card to add to your draft pool. But is there a fair way to decide who goes first? I guess there will be multiple rares so we could just roll a dice and hopefully everyone gets something for their colors. And I suppose the commons and uncommons will still be relevant.

Anyone have any ideas?

There's probably no way to do that that won't make gameplay/the decks more imbalanced. So I guess it depends a bit on the people you are playing with. If they are more established/entrenched players, I'd probably leave out the collector's booster altogether. If they're more of the casual "I want to see big things happen" crowd then I feel like doing it via dice roll is probably one of the better approaches, because it's another way of adding a bit more spectacle/excitement to it.

Alternatively, if you have a good grip on how good of a player/drafter everyone is, you could just do the picks in reverse order of skill. So most novice player gets to pick first

Edit: could also have the pick order reversing each round for the collector's booster, so it's 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2, 1 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4

They're beginners, so I expect they'll benefit from the extra cards a lot. Though there's a chance my brother will be a god at draft on his first go since he's absurdly good at games and picks them up instantly.
