It was supposedly a test of obedience, which they failed...

But it makes no sense for God to pull such a test, as they're meant to be omniscient. They would have known the outcome of the test before it even started.

Makes a lot more sense when you view it as a parable written by an ancient people who never actually thought that logic through.

Intentionally setting them up for failure with no chance of success. I’ve had bosses like that.

The myths don't even make sense as coherent stories once you go from most powerful god that gives us a justification to steal your land to all powerful, all good, all knowing god.
