Who Gets to Explain Venezuela? | Caracas Chronicles
Venezuela is often reduced to a morality play: a noble project sabotaged from abroad, or a cautionary tale stripped of agency. In both cases, Venezuelans themselves disappear. We are either victims of external forces or footnotes in someone else’s ideological argument.

I definitely think there are too many people on the left who make excuses for leftist leaders like Chavez and Maduro. I think it's understandable why they do it, they're trying to push back against the strong anti-leftist sentiments that are common in places like the US. All of this results in a situation where no one is willing to set aside their biases and look at circumstances objectively. However, if the anti-anti-left group is silenced then you're only left with the anti-left group and that doesn't help to promote objectivity. All non-Venezuelan actors need to stop interfering, left or right.
As an American, I would love nothing more than for my country to stop interfering in the affairs of other countries, including and especially Venezuela. I will continue to advocate for independence and democracy for Venezuela, and all nations of the world.
