For those who switched from a wall to a screen: how big was the difference really?
Been using my projector on a light gray wall for a while. It's fine, but I keep reading that a proper screen (especially for dealing with some ambient light) is a bigger upgrade than getting a slightly better projector.
For those who made the switch: was it a subtle improvement or a major "wow" moment? What type did you go with (ALR, white, grey)?
I'm starting to research options and brands like VIVIDSTORM keep popping up. Any firsthand experiences—good or bad—with their screens or similar ones would be super helpful for my decision.
I haven’t actually used a projector in my home, but I will tell you that if you’re two options are a slight upgrade in your projector or moving to a screen. The screen should offer much more enhancement than a small upgrade hardware wise would. Walls are generally imperfect and also can affect color richness and accuracy. I would go with the screen, but do so from a retailer that has an acceptable return policy so that you can return it if you don’t like it it or feel the upgrade was worth it.
