General Game Day Thread!
Since there's low activity on the individual game day threads, we thought a better option would be to just have one stickied thread for all* games.
*All is defined as...2026 regular season and post season games? We'll figure it out as we go along.
Ideally there'll be a top level comment for the game in question, and the comments for that game can be posted as replies to that comment. If there's no top-level comment for a game you want to comment on, go ahead and start one.
Suggested wording for the top level comment should be something like: "Ducks @ Caps, 1/5/26". We're not going to be rigorous here, just be clear what game you're talking about.
Let's go Caps!
@pittsburgh April 11, odds are still pretty bad for us and almost zero if the flyers win in winnipeg tonight, but I'm glad they're playing well down the stretch. The kids are looking promising. Sandin's injury looked gruesome though, hopefully he'll be healed up by october.
They're heating up just a little too late, I fear.
OK, we're going to win this one, right? Right??
right? :(
We won! Shutout!
Canadiens @ Caps, 1/13/26
We're going to this one tonight. If recent experience is any guide, the Caps should win...
Nice comeback OT win! I'm also really liking what I'm seeing from Ethen Frank this season!
Doing OK today, but I'd really like another goal 😬
Shut out! 👏👏
Decent odds this will be the last meaningful game of the old man's career. I'm glad they brought their best effort.
And at least a final win.
Ducks @ Caps, 1/5/26
With the top two scorers (Wilson & Protas) out, Sourdif has two goals. And while I was typing this, Leonard just scored the third goal!
And we have a Sourdif hat trick.
Did not have that on my Bingo card!
His first career hatty, good for him!
Stars at Caps, 1/7/26
The Caps rarely play well against the Stars for some reason.
The Stars are also the second-best team in the league right now, whereas the Caps are very mid at the moment, which is kinda perplexing because I don't think much has changed since last season in terms of personnel. 🤷♂️
Yep. I think part of the issue with the Caps is that they have a lot of younger players who are just inconsistent - they're still learning. But they are all good players, so I think they'll just get better as time goes on.
By the way, you should watch the end of the San Jose/Dallas game yesterday - the OT game winner power play goal was a thing of beauty. The Sharks just kept hammering pucks at DeSmith, who did a really great job stopping most of them, but the Dallas defense couldn't get the puck out of the zone.
Utah@Washington March 3, bad first period but the powerplay actually looked okay there. The team has looked a lot more optimistic overall since PLD returning.
Well thppppt
Yeah. The East is stacked this year. I'm not confident the Caps would have had a deep run anyway.
I knew we were in trouble when I saw the Canes were resting practically all of their big guns last night - Ghostisbear, Svech, Staal, and I forget who else. Just goes to show, if you want a job done right, you have to do it yourself!
