I thought it would be a good omen to start the new year en rose, but I somehow didn't quite get the dosis right. The result was underwhelming and runny, though very slick.
1 pass on the dome with the Leaf; 2 passes on the face around a stubble henriquatre. Generally rough shave due to dry skin from harsh weather conditions.

Since I have my first day at my new workplace in the hospital tomorrow, I wanted to get a nice shave in this evening. Unfortunately, the weather hasn't been kind to my skin - we've got a winter storm with a stiff breeze and alternating freezing rain and snow. Getting to work will be a challenge tomorrow, so I need to get up at 4:00 AM - no time left for shaves.
I figured it'd be time to ditch the patchy stubble beard for something neater, more well-groomed looking. The henriquatre/full goatee won't be for long, as I plan to go back to a Van Dyke/Anchor beard soon. However, those don't look good with stubble so I need to grow everything out thicker and evenly. Since they plan to take photos of me tomorrow, I opted for a neat partial beard that I wouldn't hate to see on my ID photo.
I thought I could justify todays' software combo methaporically as in "navigating new seas towards mastery", but it still doesn't really fit together well. Despite the great quality of the ZM soap, the shave was rather rough since my skin was dried out. Oh well, nothing too serious in terms of irritation except minor redness and tiny blood spots. At least I did my first shave in 2026 and will look as good as I can for tomorrow. Have a good time! ✌️
I scored a tallow Tabac puck! To start the year off right, I went all-in with that old German Spice. Old Spice was released in 1937, Tabac in 1959. Using Emperor Spice's logic, Tabac must have been the first dupe of Old Spice.
Anyway, don't forget to have your black-eyed peas, collard greens, cabbage, corned beef, and whatever else you need to hit the superstitious lottery jackpot for the new year!

Very happy with this shave. Yesterday I focused on a larger angle and today I focused on whatever feels good. That's the approach I take with DE shaving and it works great. Not having to think about angle requires experience with any given shaving method, and I'm 1 shave away from transitioning from beginner (sub-100) to not beginner (100+) with straight razors!
Today is New Years Day. The RC club that I belong to has an annual event which we went to today. It was very cold and there was 3" of fresh snow on the runway, but I managed to get a couple of flights in! The wind was also very strong, but as the saying goes "the wind is your friend".

Beautiful scent combination with which to start the new year. This razor shaves great, and I've been really enjoying Koa Mahina since I picked it up.
