Ironically, he designed a tracking app with so many Google tools that he's probably the one getting tracked to death by Google.

But... At least he didn't ask AI to code his app for him. Points for efforts, for learning something useful and for not being lazy.

true Firebase alone is a hidden time bomb from my experience. But its amazing what he did with just a bit of programming and a lot of bureaucracy.

It's true that it's not a lot of programming and more using pre-chewed trojan-horsey tools from Google. If he was a professional programmer, I'd call what he did sloppy, low-effort and low skills - though still miles more respectable than "vibe coding" or whatever the AI nonsense is called.

But he's a kid, and frankly for his age, it's pretty good. If nothing else, he demonstrates he's skilled with the tools and clever in the way he puts everything together in a no-nonsense kind of way.

Ive seen worse on the app store haha. Some by coworkers. So many react native projects.... :(

Yeah give it a couple of years and he will be coding an awesome amount. Plus imagine his resume. Heres my youtube video on how I made "thing". Here it is on the app store and on my phone.

Funny irony there. He built a family tracking app using Google tools. Now he has no idea who actually owns all that data. Probably Google.
