The higher you put them the longer they survive (is my experience from Palestine stickers)

69

It's more difficult to reach. Just today I saw a Zionist sticker and had to jump a little to put my sticker over it. I had no chance to pull it off or do anything else but putting mine over. If I didn't have stickers with me or if I was smaller, it would still be there

But then less people will see the sticker if it's not placed at eye level.

Better:
-phobia harms everyone

Except richphobia if it exist

Edit: my people, i meant "we should spread this message more for any minority too" i did not meant to say "drop the T" sorry for the misunderstanding 🙏

I've seen you around enough to trust you don't mean anything bad, but I want to let you know that people are going to assume you're transphobic if you say something like that. I find myself unable to explain why, but I can say that it's important to highlight marginalized groups individually, to help make sure we're not in a "drop the T" kind of situation.

It definitely reads a bit like someone responding to black lives matter with "umm actually, ALL lives matter"

Not saying that's the intention, just that's how it's gonna come off to some people.

Really? I mean don't underestimate other people's ability to analyze and recognize another user's behavior. There's no malice behind it, but obviously if a user sees the same username in comments over and over it'll be a person they recognize and can somewhat have expectations for.

I meant that i am scared of myself being so present on lemmy that i get recognized by someone and i think i use too much internet

Found the All Lives Matter person. While not wrong, it is telling that you have a problem to highlight this one bigotry. That's not how solidarity works

what i meant was more "we should spread this kind of message more often for other minorities too" i don't to want to belittle the "trans are people too" movement and i am sorry if i sound like that

Funny how the accounts that need blocking like this one directly above never quite seem to hear it

1

I still think the analogy is valid. It's not better but distracts from the message. There is place for both messages, of cause, but a trans sticker isn't the place for it.

To the edit: I hate that we need to clarify that the original group is included in "all lives matter". I hate that there are enough disingenuous loud people that we assume "all" means only rich white men.

If people were genuine, then "all lives matter" would be an excellent phrase to rally behind. Sadly, we still need to remind people that these minority groups exist, and that actual humans are in those groups.

9

Yeah it's crazy to me, I heard all lives matter for the first time and I was like oh so they support black lives matter then I guess? Nope just another "how can we muddy the waters" campaign.

Have you played the payload game in TF2? It is a fitting metaphor to civil right and bigotry. On the gender line, american team pushed the payload over TRANS point, cheers to them, but if the opposing team would push it back, the next points are gay marriages, voting rights for women, etc. There are a lot of these lines with their own payloads, in gender discourse, labor discourse, race relations, but the principle stands is that while the previous achievement become somehow normalized, the last one is always up for an attack, and all lives matter rhetoric can be and would be dismissive of the current fight over whatever it is alternative to.

I am not saying "all lives matter" i am just saying we should do this more often and with other minorities too I though the edit was enough clear 😭

my honest opinion. first read I thought you're referring to phobia as fear, like agoraphobia. i get what you're doing. trying to include homophobia, and the like.

3

Yeah! Get out of here with your innocuous statement that you wish to help everyone! We find it transgressive because you didn't adhere to our standards of virtue signalling & identity politics!

Seriously folks?
