hi! im miamuffin, the game's dev!! you have my official congratulations for being the first to find Kichi :3 also thank you so much for giving it a try <3 hopefully it's not too hard for you? i made it pretty challenging but it could be "annoying" kind of challenging

im glad it's working out for you so far! i've thought about increasing the amount of footsteps that can be present at one time but figured leaving it as is would help the retro aesthetic AND would contribute more to getting lost. don't worry, i also made the map deliberately confusing to compensate for it's small size, so your sense of direction is not fully to blame! i think i wanted people to enter this panic state where they're freezing and are desperately trying to find the campfire again but just keep stumbling even deeper into the forest. and yeah, Noire is present in the game as well!

I've definitely done this on tabletop rpgs. A one-shot DND character I played once was "Napoleon the 69th." He was named after and visibly resembled our black cat, Napoleon. He was a tabaxi monk. His backstory was that his family line was an extremely ancient long-deposed royal family. Like a royal family from several dynasties ago. But his ancestors were still obsessed with protecting their noble lineage, so they were inbred to hell and back. He was a tabaxi that was so inbred, that physically...he was just an ordinary cat.
