My friends and I all have autism and/or ADHD, and a slew of physical and mental health diagnoses. It can be like this sometimes, but we have lots of days that we're sharing silly or mundane things.

I think it's important to have people in your life that can validate your feelings when something stressful comes up, but that can also establish and maintain boundaries. We're not therapists, even if we have a ton of experience with therapy, ya know?

My best friend gets to rant about childcare issues and conservative school board insanity, then I get to rant about stupid conservative shit at work and my family being insane. It's good to vent to someone who's outside the direct problem so you don't lose your shit in front of the wrong people.

Not true at all. All my female friends are very down to earth. One of them did burst into tears the night before her wedding for seemingly no reason, but that's an emotional time and out of the ordinary for her. I'm probably the craziest one but I still think I'm very chill. It takes a lot to make me un-chill.

Not for me. We commiserate, catch up, share memes, get together for a donut sometimes but we're all pretty level headed and not prone to drama.

My wife is my best friend. We don't take turns, she gets to be crazy whenever she wants and I get to be weird and off-putting whenever I want.

I love the spectrum of responses!

My own friends are almost all carrying some high stress situation or other, but I think we're pretty good at supporting each other when need be (especially me and my bestie).
