I don't get why Alberta hasn't had a referendum to become the 51st state. Last federal election 92% voted for MAGA.
Canada? You mean the largely unpopular and psychotic leadership of a single Canadian province? One who has many members actively in the process of being recalled by their constituents? That Canada? What is this trash source and where do they get their funding?
Canada has a bizarre set of rules for not for profit think tanks. They are tax exempt, but refuse to admit how they are getting funded. Canadian Federation of Taxpayers ironically does not pay tax and will not reveal how they are funded.
For NFP status, Canada should insist on open audits and public disclosure of finances. Most of these NFP "think tanks" are funded by US foundations like Atlas and Koch. More disturbing, these NFPs can donate to other NFPs effectively laundering money from foreign sources.
I have written letters about this to Ottawa since 2016 with no response. Canadians need to ask government why we are giving special status to right wing think tanks, and subsidizing them.
I fully agree, this should be a mainstream topic and if more everyday people were aware and understood it, they would want answers and reform.
