Iris pseudoacorus, the symbol of Brussels, in the wild

They grow a little bit everywhere in and around Brussels; don't remember where this picture was taken. They flower around June or so.

Are those the ones that grow and bloom in front of the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula?

Can't confirm what grows in front of that cathedral, but probably not, because those irises grow along lakes and rivers. (Insert comment about how many lakes and rivers in Brussels have been asphalted over making the city's emblematic flower a rare sight.)

Speaking of Brussels, is there already a Brussels community on Lemmy?

1

I was thinking opening one on https://jlai.lu/, as Bruxelles is mostly French-speaking, but I'm not too sure about that.

It would be nice to have a European instance, where we could open a Brussels community
