Fudge! TWiT has been killing more good shows than they've been bringing on. I'll have to listen to the show, but I wonder why they'd end a show about one of the most popular operating systems/platforms on the market.

I've been a club twit member for over a year now.

What other shows have they been canceling? Are they all financial cuts?

It was a good show for android users like me and the lack of good alternatives indicates there isn't a market for this type of show. We're probably still in the early stages of losing the things we're used to having because they're no longer economically viable.

There was a time when there were a bunch of Android podcasts. But I think as Google has made Android more "boring" the interest for these has faded.

Agreed. Google exercising tighter control over android has sucked out the enthusiasm of the community. I used to enjoy seeing all the different roms and features people would add even if they weren't for me. Personally, I'm really hoping we see a decent linux phone soon.

Didn't this just happen out of the blue? AAA has been in my podcast feed pretty much since the beginning of the show and I really can't believe they decided to shut it down 😭

Wasn't profitable / sustainable, is what I read on Masto. They had listeners when what they needed during a prolonged downturn in advertising revenue was paying subscribers.

I admit I didn't listen often. The few times I tried, I was put off by overly lengthy ad reads. The hosts definitely seemed delightful, though.

Some relevant posts from the hosts.

What? I really enjoyed this but haven't kept up regularly, why so?

Did they explain why they ended it? I'm currently listening to it so maybe the reason is coming up. I'm a loyal listener and so a bit devastated and shocked that it wasn't announced in advance.

It's one of the most engaging shows I listen to so I'd be surprised if it was because of a shrinking audience.

Right? I don't get how such a long running show can get the boot. I've been listening for years and I really enjoyed it, Jason Howell is a good host.

That sucks. But I can understand how Twit as a business model would be very difficult to make profitable. All the other podcasts I listen to simply supplement another medium, TV or digital print. I wonder how many other Twit shows are affected given AAA was such a stalwart.

This sucks, but maybe this will allow them to make "This week in Google" actually about Google and not just miscellaneous stuff.
