Meditation Sitting positions

I'm a large guy 6 ft 1 in and 280 LBS.

I struggle to sit criss cross for an hour because my legs get tired and my thunder thighs sorta push me off kilter and I wanna lean back.

So I've been sitting on my shins instead and this is way better for maintaining posture but I have just barely 20 minutes before my legs fall asleep and then it hurts once I get up to journal.

I don't want to use a chair or a pillow because I travel a lot and there's no guarantee I'll have those with me.

Any position suggestions? Maybe I'll look into a pillow or mat.

In Japan they use very small benches called Seiza Benches. I think I've seen those that fold up flat and could be traveled with fairly easily.

The death pose may be useful to you. Just don't fall asleep unless that is your intention. It is basically laying on your back with your arms relaxed by your sides.

I've done that and its really relaxing.

Only problem is it feels like cheating.

Not a bad call, but this is part of my occult practice.

It feels nice to add more content then videos.

If you’re sitting on the floor, no matter what position, the key thing is that your hips should be higher than your knees. That lets your back rest in its natural curve which reduces stress and lets you sit longer and more comfortably. A firm cushion or low stool does that.

A chair, no need to destroy your knees like zen aspirants do.

Standing meditation is also a very energetic option.

Sitting around gathering dust will only get us so far

It feels wrong and I work a desk job. Anything to not be in a chair is ideal honestly.
