I kinda thought I was being unique and innovative in my fundraising... I hope he's wrong and that a lot of people participate, even if they can't give any money or anything the support still helps a lot, you can also vote in the poll to influence what charity I fundraise for for one more day here:

I don't think I'm very good at marketing or sales 😅 but it's a skill I hope to develop more as I go. Right now I just want to do better than I did the year before every time. Last year in December I raised $200. This year I'm going to be really ambitious and try for $1,000.
Nah, don't be discouraged. Your ways of helping humanity is unique sure, but it is a net positive without any negative IMHO. So just keep at it! I myself can't help financially but I do support good cause wherever it is advertised
I like charities, and I work a lot at them, but ultimately they only try to mollify capitalist excesses, rather than fix things. A good thing to learn about is Mutual Aid. Then efforts can be focused on revolution, such as in the successful Leninist or Maoist types.

Yeah, used to be on Reddit, MagnetFist, deleted my acc because I didn't need it. It's u/spez's comment of "you'll all come back in the end" and I decided that I wouldn't come back. I missed a lot of fun art, especially one called "BlackBunSuccubus" but I had to leave. I heard that Reddit is closing down horny subs too, so that's a problem.
And hell yeah GOOD FOR YOU! I also am really sick of reddit. Specifically how racism / misogyny / bullshit is just so prevalent there and the admins don't care. I'm really enjoying lemmy so far although it's not a replacement

If those are possible, raising money for charity definitely seems possible.
The bigger variable is how much you'll be able to raise for charity, which will probably be dependent more on how good you are at sales and marketing.
