There's really not an upper limit.

Maybe physically, measured in joules. Or gigatons per cubic inch or something. It's worth approaching.

And Artie Shaw (who the OOP is probably referring to whether he realizes it or not) has a huge discography where he just goes nuts on the clarinet.

One of my favorite parts about the legend, the goat, the man who literally invented Honky Tonk music, The Texas Troubadour Ernest Tubb, is when he goes:

"Aww Leon" *Leon Rhodes solo*

then immediately

"Now let's hear you Buddy" *Buddy Emmons solo*.

And both are bangers and then he comes back in with his smooth ass voice to say something sad while sounding oddly happy.

It's Honky Tonk not jazz so there's not a clarinet to be found, but he do the callouts!

All of 'em! At least the hits though. Off the top of my head:

Waltz Across Texas
Walking The Floor Over You
Yellow Rose of Texas
Just a Drink Away
I'll Be There (If You Ever Want Me)
Blue Eyed Elaine
Thanks A Lot
Saturday Satan Sunday Saint *(it's Christian but still a banger)*
Women Make a Fool Out of Me
Driving Nails in my Coffin (grand ol opry version on YT is my favorite).

Those are some of his biggest hits, there's many other songs that are just as good. Also his work with Loretta Lynn is great too.

it's a shame how bass players are relegated to the background - that guy was amazing

In most jazz records with an upright bass, the bass is mixed very low, which is basically in keeping with how it usually sounds live, even though the bass is almost always mic'ed nowadays. Goddamn shame IMO. Jazz with electric bass (which is usually fusion) is usually better about this.

You are right. Please though, no more scents or clothing lines attached to the music or artist. Let's just enjoy it for what it is and not crank up the noisy marketing machine. Go Louis Prima!

Van Halenhas a clarinet solo in “Could this be Magic” on Women and Children First.

edit: Am I wrong and its on Big Bad Bill on Diver Down?

I think most people who commented here would enjoy a large helping of King Gizzard with a side of Lizard Wizards.
