GBA Not Charging Fixed
So after the volume was fixed I discovered the board . Turns out there were multiple issues. First the charge led was dead (tested with multimeter in diode mode) so that is swapped out with a blue one. Then EM8 needed a reflow to get a good connection across. The final issue was a bad trace under the cartridge slot from F2 to D1. For that I added the bodge wire seen in the photo.
Huh. I've had a board like that for a while, won't charge but I couldn't find the cause. I didn't think to check those traces, though.
A quick way to test EM8 is to plug in the charger and check for voltage going to F1. Mine EM8 did have continuity through it, F1 was 0v so I figured it just became a little loose after removing the charging port.
I meant under the cartridge slot :)
