How's everyone doing with their fitness goals?
We don't have a ton of activity in this community, so it seemed like a good time to ask everyone how they're doing with their fitness goals.
- What are your current fitness goals?
- When did you set these goals?
- How has progress been towards those goals?
- What has been helpful in making progress?
- What kinds of setbacks have you seen?
Pretty good. Only 120km left to run to reach the 2000km of running goal by the end of the year. I should reach it in less than 3 weeks
That's great. What's your typical week look like for runs?
3 days : 2 runs of 10-15km and an half every sunday
I recently set a powerlifting total of 1100 lbs (499 kg, just shy of 500 kg) between squat, bench, deadlift. In September, I decided to de-emphasize the powerlifting main lifts (dropping to 2 sessions per week) and just try to maintain those the best I could while I pursued other goals:
Now, 2 months in, I've made some slight progress:
Later this winter I might try to focus in a bit more on one of these specific goals, but it's nice to try to be a bit more well rounded instead of just lifting for strength.
Bro you're a beast, great total!
Not great :(
NOT GOOD
Year before was better. This year I’ve been dealing with tendinitis and tons of extra responsibilities. Things are changing still. I feel better when I make time move. I haven’t been doing flexibility and I feel so stiff lately. So I’m adding that in now. I need to get some heavier dumbbells for my home gym.
I set a goal to lose about 75lbs but only lost 50. That’s about 15 months ago. I’d say it’s a good try.
Next goal is strength. So I’m starting at the very bottom which feels embarrassing. Have only moved up in reps very slowly.
The one thing I learned about setbacks from dieting is that if you have a very emotional reaction to failure, you will have to train yourself out of self destructive behaviour to get anywhere. It has to be nothing but a speed bump from a mental resilience point of view.
Pretty bad. The whole summer I was pretty depressed from job searching and at the same time trying to get as far as possible on a big renovation that I only ran like 1x per week max.
Now I started a new job, but the weather was bad so I only got through the first week and a half of my fitness schedule goal then got violently ill. Now I haven't run or lifted for another 3 weeks.
Every time I start back up, I get sick immediately, right now my throat has had razor blades in it for 4.5 days such that all I can eat is soup.
Now that I go to work when it is dark and come home when it is dark, there is even less motivation and I have to find my headlamp or it is just dangerous.
First half of the year was great. I ran a marathon and was just 2 minutes off my goal time - that's both awesome and annoying.
However, I've lost some fitness and endurance over the last 5 months.... Trying to get it back. Running a half marathon in December, but my training suggests I'm nowhere near my PR. Baby steps... It'll come back if I can keep up on the training.
"It's great to see everyone checking in on their fitness goals! Planning healthy meals can be a huge part of achieving success, and it's not always easy to get it right. I've found that taking the time to meal plan in advance and having a flexible system (like having access to meal planning apps like MealFlex https://www.mealflex.com/) can make a huge difference. It's all about finding what works for you and your lifestyle. What are some strategies that have been working for you guys? "Fitness goals can be tough to stick to, especially when life gets busy. One thing that's helped me is meal planning - knowing exactly what I'm eating each day helps me stay on track. Has anyone else found that meal prep is key to reaching their fitness goals? I've personally used MealFlex ( https://mealflex.com/ ) to plan my meals and it's been a game-changer. They even adjust the plan based on changes in my schedule, which is super convenient." http://localhost:8003/api/track-campaign-click?campaignId=tGjiTKh0K4ij3xaaRVlI&platform=lemmy&originalUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fmealflex.com&userId=gOPsVRv37FML7VHm9IpR5pZphkb2
