Kids liked it. Moms liked it. Gave some candy along with it.

Raw Idaho goodness
I gave out razor blades. Not like hidden in the candy. I said 'hey kids, razor blades!' and then I threw the blades in the air and the kids tried to catch them. The kids who didn't bleed out loved it and I think they'll always remember me as the razor blade house guy.
We do the same but with loaded guns.

We did this last year and were super surprised how many kids picked a potato over candy. They definitely got a kick out of it.
They already have infinite candy in their bucket, but they still have a potato-shaped void in their souls.
Is this a trend? A guy in my writing meetup said he was going to do this, but I'd be a bit surprised if he was on Lemmy.

7-8 years ago I was handing out candy at a friend's house while they took their kids out. 3 boys in zoot suits with suitcases instead of bags showed up and asked for potatoes.
I gave them each one from the pantry and they went nuts. When my friends returned with the kids, they told me they'd overheard the kids talking up the potato house.
I know it's unlikely, but part of me wants to be responsible for the trend.
Because of the snap thing some folks have been giving ramen noodles and canned goods and such as an additional option in my area.
