This game is really frustrating as a newbie
I started playing this game three days ago, and I've been having a lot of fun mostly. The matchmaking is however now making me miserable.
Today I've played four matches of world tour, and gotten absolutely decimated every match. I feel like I have no chance vs the other teams since every other player in the match seems to be level 80+ with thousands of eliminations and wins, while I'm level 16 with double digit eliminations and single digit wins.
I know it's a skill issue, but it feels bad to get absolutely stomped all the time, and I feel like I have no chance to improve.
Just needed to rant for a bit.
Welcome to the game! It’s great to read there are parts that you are enjoying. Try not to get too disheartened. There isn’t really a team balancer in the finals (except in ranked), so you’re playing against people with 100s or 1000s of hours. The good news is that it should start getting easier from here.
I would suggest playing more of the quick play modes to start off with, especially quick cash and head 2 head, which are more representative of how world tour plays. In all quick play modes, you have more freedom to play around with different load outs and can change between heavy, medium and light.
At this stage, you’ll still be learning the different maps, and how the game flows. Remember to stay near your team. Try to create brief 2vs1 against enemies, and learn how to get out of fights when you are outnumbered.
I love this game but it can be rough for new players, just because of all the different ways you can die. If you’re used to normal FPS, it’s tough to get your head around the fact that the massive building next to you might disappear in a couple seconds. Enjoy it for what it is, and take a break if you get frustrated
Thanks, yeah, I'm really rusty at FPS games overall, last time I played one I think was Apex Legends about 3 or so years ago.
I'll try to play some quick cash for a bit, though I will definitely take a break to play ARC Raiders.
Thanks for your reply and encouragement!
Maybe try ranked instead. World Tour (or Cashout, as it's called now) is pretty much free for all, so no real SBMM as far as I can tell. You might have a better experience on bronze or low silver ranked.
I'll give it a go once I decide to jump back in again, Warframe has its claws deep in me atm lol.
Remember big dawg: some people have been playing first-person shooters for literal decades. The skills translate near 100%. If you are not one of those people, I have some recommendations for you that you may hate. Firstly, you should do warm-up in practice range before every session. Really focus on transitioning targets and where you are aiming. Follow the moving dummies without firing. One of the ones I do is set up a motion sensor standing in between the two strading dummies and doing 180's every time it goes off. Secondly, focus on fewer weapons. I recommend the AKM az it's pretty good in many situations. Thirdly, I think you should practice just brawling in powershift OR head to head. In a world tour or even quick cash, you are ALWAYS out numbered, and it's not good for practicing. Lastly, really pay attention to better teammates while you wait to respawn. You can learn a lot.
Yeah I usually do a bit of warmup before every match, I did the same when playing Apex. I've really only played with the AK for a bit, but mostly been using the P90. Haven't played heavy or light yet.
Also I've taken a long break because of ARC raiders and schoolwork, but I want to get into it again, eventually.
My next recommendation is this: drop school, drop arc raiders, drop your social life, and drop bathing. Give it all up and go pro.
Who needs to win at life when you can win at Finals?
