Mastodon is an awesome name. Calling their tweets "toots" however...

it's lovely and whimsical! Much better than just "posts" which is what they've renamed them to :(

Maybe it's cultural but "toots" just make me think of farts.

6

Same! Fart jokes are very funny though. People who don't find farts funny are choosing to have less joy in their life but the same amount of farts ;)

And thus even the earliest mastodons lived closer to humans than to dinosaurs. The latest mastodons had the unfortunate fate of living together with humans.

And pterodactyls weren't dinosaurs. Pterodons were though....I think

1

Nope, neither were, they're both flying reptiles in the Pterosaur clade. They did live alongside dinosaurs though.

I always pictured mastodons as Mammoths though I think they are shorter and have straighter tusks.

I think of the heavy metal band - maybe because I played a couple of their songs a lot in Rock Band.

3

I don't even listen to them and still this is the first thing I think of. (For as much metal as I do listen to, I'm not a fan of that growling/screaming vocal style.)

1

I know it's completely wrong but it makes me think of a shark. Like a megalodon I guess?

2

Saber tooth tiger is the only thing on that list that actually makes sense thematically. Possibly one of the later Terror Birds would work as a theme though...

1

no, i think of a weird-shaped elephant with ginormous tusks that curl almost into a circle
