Having visited Huntington Beach for work a few years ago. They can get fucked.
This is just a straight up lie. They did not ban pride flags, they banned everything other than "the city flag, the Orange County flag, the state of California flag and the American flag as well as some military flags and the Olympic flag" from being flown on government buildings.
It was specifically because of the pride flag, though.
The end result isn't a terrible idea, but it has its origins in homophobia.
