I will be letting my wife pick first and I will pick the one weak to her starter. If she wants me to pick first I will go with Totodidle, a friend of mine's favorite Pokémon is Emboar, so I need to ensure I am strong against him.
I was wondering about that last night while discussing with my wife which starter we would be picking. I am not great on all of my starter's and their gens, but I thought Chicorita and Totodile were both the same gen.
I don't understand people that always choose one type, but do what you want. I choose the one i think is the most appealing, and i always thoght in gen 2 that was chikorita, sadly i wasn't very strong in that region, hope Chikorita isn't that punished in Z-A.

I’m always picking the grass starter so it will be Chikorita for me.

So far you don’t have to work extra hard with Chikorita in ZA unlike in Gold/Silver.
I don’t care if people stick to one type, a lot of people would usually go for the fire starter.
Since gen 3 I restart six times and trade the starters to a buddy so we can both start with all three.
I have no money, so none.
