Begin to sleep, yes a little more, yes…

YOU FALL!

Now again about this error at work today…

Ever be about to fall asleep, but then a sharp sound happens and you perceive a flash of light? Like a touch of synesthesia, sometimes a simple creak of the floorboards sends a bolting flash across my mind.

It's like a light quickly flickered on and off, or lightning in the distance,. It stops me from falling asleep at that exact moment, but thankfully it doesn't keep me up for long. I figure it's a reaction that kept our ancestors safe once upon a time, but for now it's just an interesting phenomenon.

i haven't had the visual part, but every now and then i get the sound part and it pisses me off every time, because when it happens i'm in that malleable almost-asleep stage so not only does it startle me awake but it also makes me have to lie there for like 20 seconds explaining to myself that no that wasn't a real sound because if it was then the other people near me would have heard it and this thing has happened multiple times before come the fuck on

i really do need some implant that just keeps writing down all my thoughts and the eternal undying playlist inside my head so i can see at the end of my life whether i am truly a basic bitch in terms of music taste (pretty sure i am, just need proof now)

No... NO... You can't make Rasputin into a serious sounding song! It needs that disco/funk goofiness!

If this is happening, you have histamine issues.

Hot=histamine,

cold=adrenaline kicking in, in response

throw up = histamine (famotidine is an antihistamine bc of the effects of histamine on stomach)

anxiety = histamine, adrenaline together

Back hurt = prostaglandins, esp PGE2, released from mast cells which release histamine

Headache - probably histamine

Causes are commonly food allergies/intolerances eaten before bed, being allergic to dust mites in pillows/blankets, mold spores, low vitamin e, low magnesium, perhaps high oxalates

Interesting, for me these issues are usually hormonal. (Except the anxiety, that's practically background noise in my life.)

Anti-histamines do help me sleep, but that's the only symptom that they seem to treat (and sometimes even when I take them, my brain still doesn't stop. It's a struggle.)

Hormones are related to histamine, in that they can demand more of certain vitamins depending on fluctuation which can exacerbate things like vitamin deficiencies.

Eg people often get oxalate flare ups (which can trigger histamine release) on their periods due to depletion of vitamins. It's somewhat complicated, but vitamin e in particular has been indicated as helpful. Ofc, do a normal RDI of it, and try to eat some vitamin k from salad or swiss cheese too with it.

No, somewhat the opposite, I have celiac and am chronically/randomly deficoent in vitamins so I had to learn this stuff to keep myself healthy. Eg I floss every day, it's normal, doesn't hurt or anything, then one day I spat out a mouthful of blood. I was sure I was anemic (I'm often anemic bc malabsorption from celiac), so was taking copper, riboflavin, and iron, and still spitting out mouthfuls of blood when I'd floss. Then looked it up and realized I had FREAKING SCURVY, like a pirate, from vitamin C deficiency. Taking 1 vitamin C pill stopped the bleeding while flossing. Stuff like that happens all the time to me where I am just like, wtf is this now? What is my body doing today and why???

Now this is fascinating. How did you figure this out? I've been suspecting this but haven't quite been able to link it all together. Thank you!

You're welcome :) I got anaphylaxis a few times tbh

I would recommend NOT taking antihistamines, especially not Benadryl, as it causes dementia. It's better to figure out what is triggering your histamine release and address that directly if you can. For me, it was a vitamin e (mixed tocopherols, NOT from soy but from other stuff like saffron) and magnesium (magnesium glycinate or taurate) deficiency that gradually got better with supplements,

Also I avoid high histamine foods - I haven't eaten canned food in like a year for this reason. Foods have more histamine the longer they sit out. As in, the food has histamine in it, you aren't allergic, you are just getting a dose of histamine. You can look up high histamine foods to get a list
