Which provinces haven't pulled American liquor off the shelves? Is that all Alberta sales or something?

34

Of course it's fucking Alberta.

Leadership here desperately wants to be included in the fascist south. Willing to sell out, seeking to secede, banning books, actively fighting against public education...

At least in BC is only came off the shelves at the government liquor stores you can still get American liquor at private stores.

At a private store in Victoria a month ago there was a sign up on an empty shelf saying they weren't ordering any more American wine or spirits.

I thought in BC the private stores still have to buy through the government liquor distribution branch, so if that's not carrying it then I guess they'd sell out eventually. Maybe things have changed since I lived there though

Crazy that Alberta still stocks US products but won't import wines or beer etc. From the provinces in the country.

Albertans are so cucked, they'd give away their own province to America

21

Well that's unkind.

The party the idiots elected would do so willingly, thinking the land goes with them and that they'd get to become Americans.

But the rest of them? I think most of them would be surprised to learn it happened at all. There's a lot - a LOT - of low-key racism in the province, but most people try to ignore the news and its distressing facts so they can get the crop in or get to their 2-hour minimum wage shift on time.

Why do we care so much about US liquor? Nobody talks about boycotting US soft drinks and candy.

I mean, I am doing those things. I'm also just curious as to why we're so focused on alcohol. It's probably because it's one of the things where it's easy to find non-American alternatives. But maybe because there's a lot of Coca Cola bottling locally in Canada people don't care?

Either way, I've been looking around for Canadian candy to give away for Halloween. Hawkins Cheesies and Rockets might be it.

4

Yes. Believe it or not, the coke and pepsi being made in Canada makes people feel significantly less pressure to boycott them. Believe it or not, this makes sense when you think about how most people make decisions and the factors involved in those decisions.

Being smug about it doesn't change it.
