I've been slowly getting rid of American products/services. App distribution lockdown greatly increases the need to move off Android.
I will of course keep my current Android phone for banking and government apps, but I am not looking forward to carrying two phones.

I Graphene and other 3rd party ROMs would have this shit disabled? What do I actually loose if I unlock my Pixel9ProXL and install Graphene? Would it hamper the camera quality in any way?
Camera? No. You lose Google play integrity checks and some apps might refuse to install from the Google play store, but you can usually install them from the Aurora store instead, and they usually work. Some are configured to only work from the Google play store.
Graphene does get around this then? Is there a writeup of how it will affect them?

Not anymore they won't. To even have a chance at faking play integrity nowadays you have to get a hold of a valid, signed, OEM key box to spoof integrity to a level where you can use things like the McDonald's app or Google pay. And those are harder and harder to find every day.
I've spoofed integrity on my Mi12 still this June, before I got P9.
As did I on my Pixel 8 Pro just a month ago before I got my P10, but it won't last forever. The keys are quickly drying up. Trust me, I'm not happy about having to say this. I've had a jailbroken or rooted phone the entire time I've had a smart phone, but it's getting to the point where if you want full access to your phone, you're going to run into an issue trying to use an app eventually, if not several very important ones.
If I didn't really like Google pay and a few other apps that are hard to fool, I'd still be rooted on this phone today, tho.
Rooting is not recommended or supported on GrapheneOS.
It works like signing services on iOS. You must pay for the service (very few free services has that), deliver your UUID and then you get a certificate to sign your apps. "Oh fuck, Google is doing things. Oh shit!", but similar thing happens on iOS xD

So Apple punches you in the stomach, Google is going to do the same. And what's your point? That we shouldn't mind?
No. My point is that it happened before, but because it's harder to sideload on iOS, people hasn't made such a noise.
That's because all the people who made noises were on Android? Seriously you aren't making the argument you think you are.
