Face the wall refers to shooting squads, which happened often in gulags.

Death threats also goes against Hexbear's ToS, but Admins never act on these violations

It's hexbear. Those of us that understand that's their baseline blocked the instance long ago.

violent threats have no place on the fediverse

Can’t get good content for here if you do though!

Uh, what? I have only ever used instances that block Hexbear, but I haven't felt that there's no good content. What would you describe I'm missing?

I mean good content for communities like this one that mock them.

A couple days ago when I was looking at where to join lemmy I saw them and gave it a hard pass. I got no problems with vegans but trying to consider veganism a pillar of leftism is a stretch and requiring content warnings for "carnist products" was a red flag.

I mean, it's more of a wish than a threat. I'm sure most of us have walked that line of social media before.

i've never wished death on other users before.

on plenty of dictators, sure, but never ordinary people

Not sure actually. I must've tagged them a long time ago. Dug through their history and didn't see anything crazy. They were in one particular thread I read that was full of tankies but didn't say anything wild so it might have been a misclick on my end?

I usually don't tag people unless they say some heinous shit but now I'm not sure so I guess I'll remove this one.

It's probably because PugJesus got mad at me for claiming that 'authoritarian' isn't a valid political term and exists primarily to lump together fascist and communist regimes. It's not something I believe(d) particularly strongly, but I've heard it multiple times and it feels right, so I parroted it and ended up on this subreddit.

what do you mean? You don't think authoritarianism exists?

Again, this is not something that I feel strongly enough about to go to bat for, but I've watched a couple of videos essays over the years. The argument is essentially that many governments that are called authoritarian have very little in common besides being considered enemies of those in capitalist power. Therefore the government and the media paint them all with the same evil-sounding brush. I think I've heard this argument is more valid for the word 'totalitarian', but I would need to do more research.

2

But both China and Russia are very much capitalist, though you can exclude China if you think they're 'building up to communism via capitalism'

So if both of these nations are capitalist, how can they be considered enemies of those in capitalist power?

3

Oh, yeah maybe. The "authoritarian is a fake word" bit is a tankie favorite, though your point about totalitarian being a better word is pretty spot on. I think I'll use that from now on.

4

I don't think communism and fascism should be lumped together but Bolshevism is definitely a flavor of fascism. Seriously though, plenty of governments/countries called authoritarian aren't either.

So people downvoted you because of a screenshot, of a tag, that had no reason to assigned to you. That's impressive.
