I started with the memmy app and started using mlem simultaneously to see which I preferred. At the time, I was used to what Apollo offered. Once mlem got more updates and features I switched to it exclusively.

So far I can’t think of a single feature that’s “missing” for me, but then again I usually just do the most basic stuff on here: browse, like, save and occasionally comment. Definitely made the last two years a better experience.

Apollo, the app right?

How Have You Personally Dealt With The Loss of Apollo?

I did not, I just sideloaded Apollo and still am using the app.

I’m glad that exploit still works. Though it has a developer account upfront cost to access.

No, not entirely true (luckily). You can use SideStore or AltStore to sideload at least 3 apps freely. The “downside” is you have to refresh every 7 days.

The good side is; SideStore + LiveContainer allows for unlimited apps to sideload and there’s a shortcut to auto-refresh apps each day (so no worries about expiring apps).

However, it is true for most convenience, Apple developer certificate is still the best and usually costs €6-20 euro through third party seller (for one year).

However I’m in Canada. Sideloading isn’t allowed here yet by the government or Apple.

Mlem’s most recent update brings most of the features I used from Apollo.

My only remaining one that I miss is ‘Share As An Image’. It makes sharing content with people who don’t touch the Fediverse a lot easier.

I wonder if people used the SharePlay feature much?

The feature I miss most is the ability to get back to my All feed without losing scroll position after an accidental swipe takes me back to the Feeds list. The only way i know to get back is to select All again, which resets scroll position to the top. Very annoying to try to find my way back to the post I was on.

I believe Apollo had a feature allowing for a swipe right on the bottom button bar to return to the feed without losing position. That’s the only thing missing from my experience.
